The Ghosts of Victoria Festival
The Ghosts of Victoria Festival is an annual event showcasing the spookiest activities in the city. From ghostly walks to haunted trolley tours, the Festival is a great way to explore British Columbia’s most haunted city. For a full listing of events, visit Discover the Past. Here are a few highlights:
Maritime Museum of BC
(October 20–23 and October 27–30)
Experience ghostly sights and sounds at the Maritime Museum in Bastion Square, which was the site of public hangings during colonial days. It’s widely considered the most haunted location in Victoria, and if you’re lucky you’ll catch a glimpse of Judge Begbie wandering on the third floor. Tours are $13 and begin at 6 pm in the Museum Gift Shop. Please call (250) 385-4222 ext. 113 to reserve a spot.
Ghost Bus Tours
(Oct 22, 28, 29, 30)
Ghost bus tours are led by John Adams, Victoria’s most famous local historian. The 2-hour trip will take you through the city’s most haunted neighbourhoods, including the golf course where the ghost of Doris Gravlin, murdered there by her husband in 1936, is frequently seen. Tours are $32 and tickets are available at the Visitor Information Center, by calling (250) 953-2033 or online.
